Inaugural Mother’s Day Breakfast

Friday March 11, saw the Foundation conduct its inaugural Mother’s Day Breakfast, at Zest Waterfront venues, RMYC Point Piper. The event was hosted by the amazing Mia Freedman, who in her inimitable style, and together with her equally talented son Luca, held our guests in the palm of her hand. I could write all day, and never be able to articulate our thanks to Mia and Luca for their time, and for their love and support of this critical and personal cause.

Our major partners for the morning were long term supporters of the Foundation, Glasshouse Fragrances, who once more generously donated the exquisite Casablanca Mother’s Day limited edition candles for each lady attending the event, Rutherford Jewellers Melbourne, The Grand Hyatt Melbourne, Dior, LaMer, Taylor’s Wines, Star Medispa, Victor Churchill, Sinclair Fine Foods, Sonoma Bakery, and Fiona Patterson Hairdressing.

Our hosts, who also partnered us for the event were Zest Waterfront Venues, Point Piper, and as the sun rose over the million-dollar panoramic views over Rose Bay, our guests were treated to a sumptuous breakfast of an assortment of breakfast canapes, followed by Shashuka style eggs, smoked eggplant, quinoa, kale, labne, sourdough crostini, and House cured salmon, potato galette, soft egg, spinach, asparagus and mustard dressing. We are so very grateful to Zest Waterfront Venues Point Piper, and their wonderful staff, Renee, Darren, Kassanda, the waiting staff, chef and kitchen staff, together with those assisting set up, for their professionalism and commit to this event.

Our guests were entertained by an Acapella recital from four highly talented, and extremely generous young men who were in Cooper’s Form at Sydney Grammar School, performing “Shenandoah’ together with “And so it goes”. It was a flawless recital which touched the hearts of so many in the room. The Foundation would like to pass on our sincere gratitude to Mark, Jarrad, Jasper and Robert. We can only imagine the brightest of futures ahead of these amazing young men.

A memorable morning to mark our first Mother’s Day event, and one we would ask you to mark in your diary for next year, when we get to do it all over again. Another step closer to funding the critical research required to change the trajectory of sarcoma for young patients.
